A description of the Health and
Safety Committee as stated in the NP-5 Contract: There shall be
established a Protective Services Health and Safety Committee, consisting
of eight (8) members with right of substitution: four (4) appointed by the
Union and four (4) appointed by the State. The Committee shall meet at
least once per month or as necessary to review alleged health or safety
problems brought to its attention. The Committee may also investigate
problems on its own.
Members shall be released to
attend meetings without loss of pay or benefits and attendance shall be
considered as time worked as part of the employees regular schedule which
shall include travel time to and from committee meetings.
The Committee shall report its
findings to the Commissioner of Administrative Services and the
appropriate agency officials who will take all appropriate steps to comply
with Article 11.
Within the framework of available
resources the Committee may employ the services of independent experts to
conduct studies of alleged problems.
